Mural & design - Wake The Tiger London (Case Study)

Project type

Interior design & Mural

Date

2026

Location

London

Role

Artist and designer

Commissioned by Wake The Tiger London following my mural at the Bristol site, i was given a pretty much open brief and a 5m corridor that leads to a key view point within the new site called 'Absurd City' - 80,000 sq ft of psychedelic, dystopian worlds with lots of surprises.

I started prep in march of 2026 which saw iterations of concept and design to then be installed in July. The mural itself took one week with extra time for lighting installation and signing off.

The space is inspired by Kowloon Walled city, a Chinese mini city that was built so condensed that the buildings began to merge into one building that housed businesses, homes and community in a very organic but unanticipated way. I was particularly inspired by the way that humans adapt to architecture, space and lack of regulation are all thematic within the concept and storyline of Wake The Tiger's Absurd City.

The area within Absurd City that my mural was situated was inspired by the Chinese Cyber City aesthetic with other psychedelic elements which meant that my work sat nicely in the intersection of these worlds. I wanted to create a space that allowed my artwork to show its immersive qualities through scale, colour and lighting whilst having nods to being an imagined alleyway within Kowloon Walled City, maybe years later. Lighting was an important factor for my piece as it was on the Bristol site. I wanted lighting to reflect some kind of wiring that you'd find in a dark alleyway in Kowloon walled city which we managed to get in the form of flex lighting run above a metal grate to avoid touching but also to add to the industrial feel of the space.

Overall I am very happy with the outcome of this project, of course there are things i'd adapt and add which i will take forward for future design projects.
